Thylacine dasyure
Extinct
Commonly refered to as the Zebra wolf, the thylacine was the largest known marsupial, endemic to Australia, Tasmania and New Zealand. It is believed to be extinct since 1936 when the last thylacine died in captivity. Unverified sightings have since been reported. Although the causes for their extinction is complex, they were primarily hunted to extinction.
